These first few chapters offer many points of connection for Christians of other traditions. In discussing the Fall, for instance, he emphasizes the importance of the overall story.
The Fall interrupted this process. By telling the story this way, it makes it easy for readers to see the reasoning for the Orthodox understanding of deification. Review: Introducing Eastern Orthodox Theology
It is essential, Fr. Sacraments, icons and liturgy are often the first questions raised by those who first encounter Orthodoxy, but by placing their discussion later in the book, Fr. Louth shows a wish for them to be understood within the context of broader Orthodox theology.
Louth delivers with delightful clarity a genuine sense of how deep and rich are the traditional resources for thinking about aspects of Christian belief, and how the Eastern Orthodox tradition draws on the sacramental rites and regular prayer practices of generations of believers, and on the wealth of patristic philosophy. Central to the endeavor is the crucible of prayer: this is the touchstone for everything he wants to commend in the tradition he has embraced as his own.
